AHS welcomes one of its own, Gary Starrett, on Feb. 25, 2019, to the History Center as our Winter Meeting speaker. Gary, owner of Beulahland Gardens in Bolingbroke, GA, is a fixture at AHS meetings. His generosity to the Raffle for many years has been epic. If there is a volunteer opportunity that involves plants, he is there.
Horticultural Related Experience:
Director, Kittatinny Environmental Education Center, Princeton Nursery, N.J. Adult Instructor in Organic Gardening, University of New York, Port Jarvis. Manager, Lawn and Garden Center, West Building Materials, Macon, GA.
Bi-Vocational Horticultural Experience while full-time pastor:
Cutting and rooting specialist, Deep South Nurseries, Douglas, GA. Agape Village Nurseries, Macon, GA. Supervisor, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Green house program, Warner Robins, GA.
Owner of Beulahland Hydrangea's Gardens and Nursery, Bolingbroke, GA. Presently have 365 Hydrangea cultivars on site.
Have been featured in Georgia Neighbors, a publication of the Georgia Farm Bureau and several times in the Monroe County Reporter.
Host individuals and groups ranging from Master Gardeners and Garden Clubs to Church and Sunday School Classes. Spend winter months offering PowerPoint presentations all over Georgia.
Part of the Missional purpose of Beulahland Gardens is to donate Hydrangeas to gardens like Woodlands Garden, Atlanta History Center, Heritage Museum and Gardens, various public schools, and to the AHS raffle.
