Fall Greetings Hydrangeaphiles!
Finally, after a two year absence of many H. macrophylla blooms, our patience was rewarded in May and June with a plethora of blooming cultivars. What a sight for sore eyes! We all thoroughly enjoyed our colorful June tour. Make plans for June 10, 2017 for our next AHS tour. It is going to be fabulous!
Wheewww! It was one long hot summer! Record high temperatures coupled with drought have been precarious conditions for our beloved hydrangeas. Cooler Fall temperatures cannot arrive fast enough!
Speaking of the Fall, the AHS is very excited about moving our meetings to the Atlanta History Center! Please mark your calendars for our next meeting on Monday, October 24, 2016. Social at 7:00 pm, Meeting at 7:30 pm. Please note this very important change. All future AHS meetings will now be on the 4th Monday in October, February, and April at the Atlanta History Center. We will now be able to schedule wonderful speakers further in advance. All meetings will be held in the Woodruff Auditorium in McElreath Hall unless the History Center needs that space in which case we will meet in a different room at the History Center.
We look forward to seeing you on October 24th when Elizabeth Dean from Wilkerson Mill Nursery will be speaking to us. Her talk: “Hydrangeas…There is no accounting for taste!” Elizabeth was a charter board member of the AHS. Elizabeth’s vast knowledge of hydrangeas that do particularly well here in the Atlanta area and elsewhere will provide a wealth of information that she will share with us.
I look forward to seeing you at the AHC on October 24th!
Please mark your calendars for our 2017 Meetings. I promise you will not want to miss them!
Until then, Happy Gardening!
