President’s Message – Fall 2018

Meetings are held at the Atlanta History Center’s Woodruff Auditorium in McElreath Hall

President’s Message – Fall 2018
We welcome you to the AHS Website! We are so glad you have found us!

The purpose of the American Hydrangea Society is to study and learn about the genus Hydrangea, including all species and cultivars as well as the culture, habits, hardiness, and their performance. We are a very friendly and casual group (jeans are perfect) of both novice and experienced gardeners that love to share their knowledge and experience with growing hydrangeas and their companion plants. The current marketplace has so many new and improved cultivars or varieties that we all want to find the perfect place for them in our gardens.

We have three meetings each year on the fourth Monday night in February, April, and October. We meet at the Atlanta History Center in McElreath Hall. Our social time begins at 7:00 pm when you can meet other hydrangea fans and ask any questions you might have about the plants you already have or new plants you are considering for your garden!

You do not have to be an AHS member to attend our meetings. The AHS has both local and international speakers that will share their expertise with you. If you live outside the metro Atlanta area and are unable to attend our meetings, fear not, the lecture including numerous photos will be highlighted in an informative recap in our three newsletters for members. Another benefit of an AHS membership includes a ticket(s) to our upcoming 25th annual AHS Garden Tour on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

We hope you will join us at our next meeting on Monday, October 22, 2018 when Kristin Van Hoose from Aurora, Oregon, owner of Hydrangeasplus.com, will share at 7:30 pm “Ten Must Have Hydrangeas You May Not Know”.  After the lecture, we have our wonderful plant raffle with hydrangeas and other plants donated by great metro area nurseries and mail order sources.

We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Gloria Ward
AHS President
