AHS February 2021 Zoom Meeting

Our speaker is Andrew Bunting, VP of Public Horticulture at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Andrew has had a remarkable career being a curator of nationally renowned gardens, an accomplished author with over 200 articles and his book, The Plant Lover’s Guide to Magnolias.

Throughout his career he has shared his vast knowledge by lecturing throughout the world. Andrew has participated in plant expeditions in China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan and South Africa. Some of the expeditions were with our own AHS, VP, Ozzie Johnson. Andrew’s talk for the evening will be “Designing with Hydrangeas and Their Relatives”. 

Andrew Bunting is the Vice President of Public Horticulture at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. He previously served as Vice President of Horticulture and Collections at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Andrew was Assistant Director of the Garden and Director of Plant Collections at the Chicago Botanic Garden from 2015-2018. For 27 years he was Curator at the Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College. From 1991-1992 is was curator at Chanticleer in Wayne, Pennsylvania. He has published over 200 articles in American Gardener, Arnoldia, The Hybrid, Fine Gardening, The Magnolia Society Journal, Green Scene and Organic Gardening. He has lectured extensively in the United States, as well as, England, Belgium, Poland and New Zealand. Andrew has participated in plant expeditions to China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan and South Africa. Andrew is the recipient of American Public Gardens Association Professional Citation and received the Chanticleer Scholarship in Professional Development in 2010. His home garden, Belvidere, in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania has been featured in This Old House Magazine and in the Wall Street Journal. Andrew published his first book in 2015 by Timber Press, The Plant Lover’s Guide to Magnolias.

In order to attend the February Zoom meeting, you will need to pre-register. Registration information will be sent to AHS members via e-mail. Once you have pre-registered, you will receive an e-mail confirmation of your registration with the Zoom meeting number and password. During the meeting, those attending will be muted and not seen, however, you will be able to type in your questions in the chat room.
