President’s Message – Spring 2018

Meetings are held at the Atlanta History Center’s Woodruff Auditorium in McElreath Hall

President’s Message – Spring 2018
Warm Spring Greetings Hydrangea Lovers!

Welcome to the AHS Website! We are so glad you have found our website!  Now, we hope you will come to one of our three meetings, where you will be inspired and also learn everything about hydrangeas!  Springtime is a great time to plant hydrangeas – especially remontant hydrangeas!  You might ask….. What is a remontant hydrangea? Well, they are some of the newest cultivars that are bred to rebloom throughout the season on new and old wood! You might call them an updated hydrangea!  We all want a longer bloom time right?!

The AHS welcomes visitors to our meetings on the 4th Monday night in February, April, and October. We meet at the Atlanta History Center located at 130 West Paces Ferry Rd. Atlanta, Ga 30305. Hospitality begins at 7:00 pm. Come early to ask any questions you might have. Please bring a photo of your plant in question, and any stems or leaves inside a Ziploc bag. We are a casual group of gardeners that love to learn and share with “newbie gardeners” and experienced gardeners that want to know the latest and greatest info in the world of hydrangeas. You may have noticed that growers are constantly coming out with new cultivars to expand your collection. During our meetings you will learn which hydrangea is best for full sun, part sun, or semi-shade!  There is a wonderful hydrangea for every spot in your garden!

Please join us on Monday, April 23, 2018 when at 7:30 pm Mark Maher presents the Southern Living Plant Collection – “Life on the Shady Side”.  Following the program, we will have our wonderful plant raffle.

Come early to ask any questions, buy a raffle ticket of two, and to get a good seat!  We will also have our 24th Annual Garden Tour tickets (Sat., June 9, 2018) available for purchase at this April meeting.  Our tour tickets are included with your membership!

We look forward to seeing you on April 23rd, and yes, your jeans are perfect for our meetings!

Sincerely,
Gloria Ward
